Rev. Orlando R. Serrano is district superintendent of the Western Latin American District of the Church of the Nazarene.
Rev. Serrano was born in Nicaragua. He started his pastoral ministry while in his second year at the Instituto Biblico Nazareno (Nazarene Bible Institute) in Nicaragua. He graduated with a Diploma in Theology in 1975. Two years later, he arrived in the United States where he began his pastoral ministry with the Western Latin American District. He received his BS in Organizational Leadership from Biola Univeristy and a M. A. in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Talbot School of Theology. At present, he is completing his D. Min. Degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary.
He has pastored churches in La Puente, California; Stamford, Connecticut; and Rancho Cucamonga, California. For the last twelve years, he has served as superintendent of the Western Latin American District.
He has written articles for the Heraldo de Santidad (Herald of Holiness), the Revista Ministerio (Ministry Journal), authored a chapter in the book Siete Ministros Misionales (Seven Missional Ministers), and written Sunday School lessons in Spanish. More recently, he wrote Nuestra Historia (Our History) a short history of the Latino presence in the Church of the Nazarene from 1903 to the present.
Rev. Serrano enjoys watching and playing baseball when possible. He and his wife Ada have four children: Orlando Jr., Araxie, Nehemias, and Morena and four grandchildren: Simeon, Isaiah, Lyric, and Ana Luz.
