Doug Hardy grew up in New Brunswick, Canada where he enjoyed playing basketball and volleyball, playing the trumpet and singing, and taking long walks in the woods. Shaped from an early age by numerous “saints” within his home church, he came to value both the life of the mind and the life of the spirit, ultimately choosing to study psychology, religion, and philosophy as preparation for ordination as a minister in the Church of the Nazarene. College in Boston, seminary in California, and doctoral studies back in Boston have led Doug on a journey that has included pastoring churches, teaching at the college & graduate levels, and serving as a spiritual director. He is currently Professor of Spiritual Formation and Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City where he helps students who are preparing for pastoral ministry to keep the academic and spiritual dimensions of their lives integrated and vital. Doug is married (28 years!) to Anne Raudsepp Hardy, an Estonian-American who is trained as a mental health counselor, and together they are blessed with three children, Alexander (23), Lia (19), and Elena (16). Whether speaking, writing, or in personal conversation, his desire is to come alongside others to help facilitate their alignment with God.
